LASER INSTRUMENT

The idea here was to create an invisible MIDI instrument which would first be 'accidentally' discovered by the lead percussionist and then would be used to for a percussion performance.

The eventual solution invoved using an I-Cube MIDI sensor interface from Infusion Systems with cannibalised laser pointers arranged on the lighting rig and sensors hidden within the stage.

The MIDI data from the I-Cube was sent to an instrument module in the percussionists rig and eventually to the lighting system where it was also used to trigger lighting changes.
